Do you have a great story and don’t know how to start writing it? Are you looking for tips on polishing your plot and creating drama for your characters? Join us for lunch and a workshop October 18th.

As an independent author, collaboration is the best weapon in your arsenal.
Join us to hone your skills as a writer and meet other writers in the greater Los Angeles area.
You don’t have to go at it alone. We can grow and learn and succeed together. Bring your laptop, or simply a pen & paper. Just be ready to write.

Our first meeting will be all about plot development:

Our first meeting will be hosted by TLF founder and independently published author, J.D. Lee. He has had his short stories featured across the internet, has received recognition in multiple writing contests and has self-published two well received fiction books.

You will learn an 8 step process for creating a plot that readers want to read. You’ll learn about the hero’s journey and how to incorporate the evolution of the hero into your story. We’ll discuss various examples of the hero’s journey in literature and film, and you’ll even have the opportunity to share some of your work and seek critique from fellow authors. In addition to all that, we’ll be offering a few exercises and writing prompts to help keep the creativity flowing.  Also, you get a free  Lunch out of it.

 On the menu will be tacos (beef or chicken) for the meat-eaters, or if you are of a vegetarian mind, we will be offering hummus and unlimited pita. There will be water, and you’ll also have your choice of coffee or soda with infinite refills. If you would like anything else from the menu, you will need to purchase those items on your own tab. Please specify vegetarian or meat-eater when confirming payment.

TLF United encourages collaboration among writers. We will be sharing works, discussing ideas and participating in writing prompts and exercises to aid in the creative process and to assist each one of us in growing as an author while we enjoy some good food together. We aim at this being a comfortable and collaborative experience. Who knows, maybe you’ll meet your next writing partner here!
